Literature Text

In a junk yard, she finds herself running for cover, tears still streaming down her face. Bullets are being fired from different directions. Not at her, this is a previous conflict. Still, she can't risk being caught in the crossfire.

Finding refuge behind an old oil drum and unsure where to go next she buries herself in the book.

"You don't remember much do you?" the voice whispers from behind her. Resisting the urge to scream at the top of her lungs and trembling ever so slightly she turns around. In front of her stands a dirty looking young boy of about seventeen.

"You need to find the Zephyr, it's what makes travelling to other dimensions possible. It's how Jackson wrote that book."

"Who are..?"

"Only read what you have to... Try page 65. I can't stay, but we'll meet again soon," he says backing away. "Oh, and you might need this," he throws her a leather satchel. "It's waterproof," he gestures toward an oddly placed water dam. "Good luck," he says, disappearing back into the battle.

Weaving her way through the path of the bullets, she makes it near the dam and flicks to page 65 but there's no time to see how it will end. Taking this path means diving into the dam. No time to think, she places the book into the satchel and braces herself. "Here goes nothing," she takes a deep breath and dives into the cold murky water.

Not far down there's an air pocket that leads to dry land in some sort of cave. She pulls herself up from the water and looks up. Before her the next gate begins to open and she shields her eye's from the blinding light.

Oh wow! I've been reading through the entries and there are a lot of good ones. But I have to say now that I've taken a look at yours, I reallllly love it! You did a very impressive job with keeping it straightforward but also advancing the plot magnificently. I wish it was the whole story :D You have me hooked. You should be proud of this talent you have. Good luck!
